U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Healthy Students' National Conference: Meeting the Challenge - Building & Sustaining, Capacity to Improve, Conditions for Learning

The Office Safe and Healthy Schools (OSHS) hosted a National Conference August 8-9, 2012. The theme of the conference was Meeting the Challenge: Building and Sustaining Capacity to Improve Conditions for Learning. The Conference explored five prevailing and emerging issues that influence conditions for learning – school discipline; gender-based violence; behavioral health; bullying; and school safety. This conference provided a unique opportunity for participants to provide feedback to Federal, nonprofit, and philanthropic agencies to help shape future work in these areas.
