Tornadoes Raise Concerns About Keeping Students Safe at School

The tornado that turned parts of Oklahoma into places where towns, homes, and schools used to be has prompted fresh questions about how to keep students safe in these events. Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin said on National Public Radio's Morning Edition on Wednesday that the state will be discussing safe rooms and shelters at schools, noting that many newer schools do have safe rooms—which generally have especially thick walls and steel doors.
